| This council is a ministry requiring gifts that include, first, an understanding of the parish, and second, the gifts of wisdom and prudence. Lay persons who advise a pastor/administrator should have a breadth of knowledge and competence that is widely recognized, and must have good character, demonstrated by proven faith, sound morals, and integrity. Council members should have the ability to study, reflect, and integrate others’ viewpoints, passing them along to the pastor/administrator. Their mission is to investigate, ponder, and propose suggestions and recommendations to inform a pastoral plan. They act as ambassadors of our vision and mission by listening to the lived experiences of parishioners and ministry leaders, relaying those insights to the pastor/administrator. In regular meetings with the pastor/administrator, the council helps the parish community by proposing recommendations or pastoral responses for the pastor’s/administrator’s consideration.
